Happy International Women in Engineering Day 2020!

Metis is proud to promote gender equality across all roles within the business. To commemorate INWED20 by celebrating women in engineering, we would like to share some of the many journeys of female engineers working across multiple Metis departments.

Anam:

Anam joined Metis in late 2019 as a graduate engineer. She has a background in civil engineering with a passion for volunteering. Being able to engage in various disciplines, from highways asset management and design to flood risk mitigation, helps her broaden her horizons, while gaining experience towards chartership with the ICE.

Bianca:

Bianca began her journey at Metis in March, as an engineer with a background in civil engineering and construction management. After an interesting start to the job, meeting colleagues through Microsoft Teams (given the global pandemic), she is thoroughly enjoying her experience at Metis. Bianca has already been able to take part in SuDS design, cost-estimating, and drainage modelling. She is excited to continue learning and growing with the team at Metis!

Ainhoa:

Ainhoa joined Metis in May 2019, with a background in civil engineering. She feels fortunate to have worked with inspirational women throughout her career, including her first boss, colleagues and clients. Ainhoa is proud of now leading a team with a great mix of backgrounds; their different experiences help them to propose better solutions.

Dani:

Having joined Metis in 2014, Dani has worked her way from Graduate Flood Risk Consultant to the Director of the Water and Environment Sector. Her academic background in River and Coastal Engineering and her interest in business development has allowed her to achieve chartership with CIWEM and step into a senior management role. Dani has always enjoyed getting stuck into every element of flood risk management, from a resident-facing Council Officer role, through to risk assessment, hydraulic modelling and project design work. She regularly presents flood risk management topics to other industry professionals and continues to feed into industry guidance and best practice, through workshops and panel groups. Dani loves to solve problems and is keen to share her knowledge and experience with new engineers.
