Never mind going electric, where will we park?

Our very own Lucy Marstrand-Taussig, a transport planner here at Metis, has campaigned with the government for more spending to be made available for walking and cycling.

The government announced a £2.8bn package to encourage drivers to switch to greener vehicles and are committing £27bn towards the creation of new roads. Lucy argues that the government’s efforts should focus on creating space for active travel, as “new roads induce congestion and warm the planet, creating more problems”.

The BBC news article below outlines the challenges in the UK and how we could use space and address the climate emergency in a different way.
