Metis celebrates successful Flood & Coast 2026 sponsorship

flood & coast 2026

Metis is proud to share the success of its sponsorship at CIWEM’s Flood & Coast 2026 exhibition, held in Liverpool – the UK’s leading event dedicated to flood risk management, coastal resilience and climate adaptation.

Flood & Coast 2026 provided a valuable platform to exchange ideas and showcase innovation. Industry leaders, policymakers, engineers and environmental specialists gathered to discuss solutions to the challenges facing our communities. As a sponsor, Metis played an active role in driving collaboration and resilience across the sector.

A strong presence at a flagship industry event

Across the three-day exhibition, the Metis team engaged with various local authorities, infrastructure operators, consultancies and academic partners. Our stand served as a hub for discussions around sustainable water management, climate resilience and innovative approaches to managing flood risk.

Metis was also proud to sponsor the juice bar in the exhibition hall! This quickly became a popular meeting point for delegates. The space provided a relaxed environment for informal conversations, and the smoothies were a delight!

Sharing expertise and insight

Eilidh McDonald delivered a well-received presentation on the Wealdstone Rain-Ready Neighbourhood pilot scheme. This session highlighted how innovative approaches can support urban flood resilience. Eilidh explored the lessons learned from the pilot, including the importance of data-driven decision-making, collaborative working with local stakeholders, and the role of adaptable, scalable interventions in managing risk in densely populated areas.

Michael McCarthy led an interactive workshop with the London Borough of Barnet. This created a space for collaborative problem-solving around flood risk challenges at local authority level. The session encouraged open discussion on shared priorities, explored practical approaches to partnership working, and demonstrated how tailored strategies can deliver meaningful outcomes for communities.

Alongside these contributions, the Metis team took part in wider discussions. Topics included nature-based solutions, climate adaptation planning and the use of digital tools to improve modelling and forecasting capabilities.

Award-winning success!

The event also brought fantastic news for one of Metis’s flagship partnerships. Action for Silk Stream was named winner of the Surface Water Management Award at the Flood & Coast 2026 Awards.

This recognition highlights the strength of collaborative working and innovative thinking in tackling surface water flood risk. Metis has partnered with Barnet Council and Harrow Council on this project since its inception in 2021. We’re proud to have contributed to a project that delivers meaningful benefits for local communities, while setting a benchmark for best practice. The award was a highlight of the event and a testament to the dedication of everyone involved.

Looking ahead

“Flood & Coast 2026 is a vital event for our sector, and we’re incredibly proud to have sponsored it this year,” says managing director Dani Parfitt.

“It was fantastic to see our team sharing their expertise, from the Wealdstone pilot scheme to our work with local authorities. We’re also delighted to have hosted so many valuable conversations at the juice bar, and distribute hundreds of delicious smoothies. Events like this underline the importance of collaboration in tackling flood risk. We’re excited to build on the connections and insights gained in Liverpool. The award win was a perfect cherry on the cake!”

We’d like to thank the organisers at CIWEM, fellow sponsors and all those who visited our stand – and who stopped by the juice bar – for making the event such a success. We look forward to continuing these conversations, and to advancing flood resilience across the UK and beyond.
