Highways and Infrastructure Engineer

ABOUT THE JOB:

We have a robust pipeline of interesting civil engineering and public realm design projects. As such, we are looking for an ambitious engineer with some design experience to join the team.

The role would suit a civil engineer, with 2 to 5 years’ experience, who wants to be involved in interesting and challenging projects, whilst being supported to achieve their professional ambitions.

As a Highways and Infrastructure Engineer, you will be exposed to all elements of the business from project and client management, through to technical delivery working across the design teams. You will be working on schemes including town centre redevelopments, new cycle ways, civic squares, junction improvements and carriageway maintenance schemes to name a few.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Applicants will have a masters in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and be working towards obtaining chartership.

ABOUT YOU:

We are seeking enthusiastic and energetic engineers, with a real interest in sustainable design. Candidates must have:

  • Sound technical ability and experience in designing highway or public realm schemes
  • A desire to produce excellent, environmentally sustainable and functional drainage design
  • The ability to integrate into a team and liaise with clients and stakeholders
  • A demonstrable appetite for learning and developing your career further
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Excellent written and spoken English

SALARY AND PACKAGE:

The salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications/experience. The package includes pension, eligibility for private medical cover and flexible working in our offices in central Richmond.

Water and Environment Consultant/ Senior Consultant

ABOUT THE JOB:

We are seeking experienced professionals to join our Lead Local Flood Authority Support Team. You will be a crucial part of our team, primarily providing support to our Lead Local Flood Authority clients. This is a varied and exciting role, with the opportunity to spend some of your time working from a client’s office, acting on their behalf. The rest of your time could be spent managing and delivering project work, including active involvement in identifying and assessing flood risk mitigation measures. You will have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of flood risk scheme delivery, including integrated urban drainage modelling, baseline flood risk appraisal, funding bid support, concept design of mitigation options, cost-benefit analysis and stakeholder engagement.  In addition, you may have the opportunity to contribute to our emerging ecology, biodiversity and climate change adaptation offerings or be involved with other exciting projects on our research and development programme.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

You should hold a relevant civil or environmental engineering / science degree or masters level qualification and be chartered or working towards chartership. Experience working within or for a Lead Local Flood Authority is essential. Our preference is for an individual with at least 3 years work experience in a related field.

  • Skills to work within a team and operate independently with confidence
  • An understanding of business case concepts and how these fit within the public sector
  • Flair for innovation and thinking differently
  • Experience of positive engagement with multiple risk management authorities
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications

The following are desirable attributes:

  • Experience using MicroDrainage or similar packages
  • Experience using InfoWorks ICM, Flood Modeller, TuFlow or XP STORM
  • Experience using QGIS or ArcGIS
  • Experience or interest in biodiversity and ecology
  • Experience or interest in novel approaches to decision making
