Longstanding Metis employee Danielle Parfitt had some exciting news to reveal this week. Aside from her typical day-to-day routine as a Senior Consultant, Danielle has been competing in the 2018 American Golf Long Drive Championship.
For those that are new to the Long Drive Championship, it effectively brings the best drivers together to compete in a series of rounds, where ultimately, the longest drive wins. The goal of each competitor is to reach the World Long Drive Championship held in the USA.
Danielle is new to the sport and this is the first time she has entered the American Golf Long Drive Championship. She hit a 210-yard drive to qualify from the local round and then a 227-yard drive to qualify from the regional round to the finals.
Held in Chester on 2nd August, the finals were recorded by Sky Sports and were sponsored by Callaway, who happen to make long drivers. Danielle wore a Metis branded shirt and, following two opening preliminary rounds, qualified into the knockout stages seeded 7th with a 247-yard drive. Coming up against last year’s winner in the quarter finals was a great achievement, and Danielle relished in the competition. Winning the 1st round with a 260-yard shot (her PB) she was extremely optimistic but lost the 2nd and 3rd sets- with the 2017 winner going on to claim the title for the 2nd year running.
We are overjoyed with Danielle’s success and we hope to hear many more tales from her sporting career in the future!
