Metis is proud to announce an exciting milestone in its history: the transition to employee ownership! Founders Simon Jones and Luke Meechan have transferred a majority stake in the business to the newly created Metis Consultants Employee Ownership Trust.

This makes Metis an Employee-Owned Business (EOB).

Why has Metis become an Employee-Owned Business?

This decision secures Metis’s independent future, with all current and future Metis employees set to benefit from the Trust. We’re thrilled that our people will now reap the rewards of profit-sharing as our business continues to grow, since it is their efforts that have driven our success to date – and made this transition to employee ownership possible.

“I am extremely proud of what we have created at Metis. I’m delighted that we’ve put the business into the hands of the people who have made it what it is today,” says Simon.

We believe that having a financial stake in the company will further empower our team to innovate. In turn, our industry-leading engineering services should therefore continue to evolve. This long-term vision will consequently benefit our clients, partners and employees. We also hope that our employees will commit their professional futures to Metis, and continue to realise their ambitions with us.

What will change at Metis?

While this is a momentous change for Metis in some ways, our business will operate day-to-day as before. Simon will remain in post as managing director and Luke will continue in his current advisory capacity. Our current leadership team will continue to run the business and oversee its strategic direction.

Employee ownership gives Metis added security, avoiding disruption that future ownership change might otherwise cause. With the stability of long-term independence, and a highly motivated team of engineers and consultants, we’re backing Metis to go from strength to strength.

Research has shown that Employee-Owned Businesses outperform other businesses in almost every metric. These include productivity, innovation, environmental sustainability, and investment in local communities.
