At Metis, we are currently fundraising in support of Neuroblastoma UK. This life-saving charity funds research to develop effective treatments for children afflicted with this rare form of cancer. Our goal is to reach a total of £6,000 for Neuroblastoma UK, and we’d love for you to get involved!
This incredible charity is very near and dear to our hearts and that of our colleague, Rob. Just keep reading to find out why and how you can donate to help us reach our goal.
In March 2022, our director Rob’s world was turned upside down when his beautiful son, Ted, was diagnosed with High-Risk Neuroblastoma. Since this discovery, Rob has understandably been devoting all of his time to Ted’s care, and what a fantastic job he and his family are doing.
Over the past few months, Rob and his family have been supporting Ted in every way they can, comforting him as he undergoes several treatments and looking after his well-being 24/7.
So far, Ted has undergone Induction Chemotherapy, Surgery, and High-Dose Chemotherapy. Not easy feats for an adult, never mind a child.
But he is holding on strong. Though the treatment has been extremely tough on Ted, he is responding well, which is undoubtedly helped by his relentless strength and determination to fight this disease – even at such a young age.
The next steps for little Ted are Immunotherapy and Radiotherapy to help slow and reverse the spread of his cancer. We wish Ted and Rob the very best of luck with this.
At Metis headquarters, we will be holding a fundraising day on Wednesday the 28th of September for Ted, Rob, and his family, to raise much-needed funds for Neuroblastoma UK and help spread the word about our ongoing fundraiser to hit our £6K goal.
At the time of writing this blog, we’ve raised a massive £1,200 for Neuroblastoma UK, with more and more donations coming in every hour. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters from the bottom of our hearts; we know Rob and his family greatly appreciate it more than you could ever know.
Unfortunately, Ted isn’t the only child facing this disease. Neuroblastoma affects around 100 children and babies every single year in the UK.
In fact, every week, 2 children are diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. This rare form of cancer affects mainly children under the age of 5 and requires highly specialised treatments to relieve its symptoms.
Since the charity’s establishment 4 decades ago, they’ve raised a whopping £9 million in funding and now have their eyes set on a new target to raise £40 million to celebrate their 40 years of service.
We hope our contribution can help them achieve this goal, so they can continue developing effective treatments for young kids and maybe even one day, a cure.
We are eager to reach our £6,000 goal and will continue creating opportunities to raise money for Ted and other children like him at Metis. Having reached £1,200 already in just a short time, we’re confident that we can hit our £6K target, but not without your help.
Whether you’re a client, partner, past employee of Metis, or just happened to come across this blog, from our heart to yours, we would appreciate anything you can offer to help support this worthy cause.
