We are excited to share that our apprentice engineer, Aaron Fulton-Johnstone, has been shortlisted in the Highways Apprentice of the Year category for the DfT Special Recognition Award.
The DfT Special Recognition Awards 2024 honour “exceptional individuals and organisations that have gone the extra mile to deliver change in the highways and transport technology sector. We had an overwhelming response, which highlights the significant innovation and dedication within our sector,” said the LCRIG Team.
Aaron’s impact and contribution to the highways sector during his apprenticeship have been substantial. As Metis’s first apprentice, he set a benchmark for future apprentices and played a key role in shaping the company’s approach to apprenticeship programmes. His leadership on the London Hammersmith and Fulham footway condition survey, where he led a team and identified crucial accessibility issues, has positively influenced project outcomes and urban accessibility.
His contributions extend beyond individual projects. His proactive mentoring of newer apprentices and his commitment to continuous learning through CPD sessions highlight his influence on the workplace and the wider industry. His ability to manage complex projects and his innovative approach to improving survey quality demonstrate his overall impact on enhancing safety, accessibility, and efficiency in the highways sector.
Congratulations, Aaron on this well-deserved recognition!
The ceremony will take place on the 2nd of October at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
We look forward to the event!
