Metis are delighted to have supported Richmond upon Thames in their successful Innovative Resilience Funding bid. The fund forms part of the government’s new Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme.
Richmond’s bid is one of 25 successful projects selected nationwide. The projects will each receive a share of £150 million to work with and help communities to become more resilient to the effects of flooding and climate change.
Metis supported Richmond in the bid working in partnership with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust and Friends of Barnes Common. The project will focus on the Beverley Brook catchment in the borough working to restore a more natural watercourse in an urban environment. It will modernise flood risk management, deliver innovation and build resilience to flood risk and climate change. This will be achieved using a blend of nature based solutions and integrated water management measures working with communities to do so.
We are very much looking forward to continuing to support Richmond on the next steps of this exciting project and the work ahead.
