On Thursday, 5th September 2024, the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) Greater London Branch held its Conference and 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) at London South Bank University. The event brought together approximately 40 delegates, including industry suppliers, local authorities, students, and contractors, to explore the theme of innovation in the highways sector.
The conference was opened by Josh Le Boutillier, our Highways Engineer and Branch Chair of the IHE Greater London Branch Committee. The main focus was on innovation in the highways industry, covering physical advancements such as new materials and equipment, digital innovations like new software and AI, and transformations in working procedures. The conference featured four topical sessions that explored not only innovation but also sustainability, safety, and automation within the sector.

Following the conference, the IHE conducted its Annual General Meeting. This provided senior members with an opportunity to discuss key challenges and opportunities facing the sector. The event concluded on a positive note, offering a valuable platform for industry professionals to connect, learn, and inspire one another.
