Metis Modellers Boost into Action for Surface Water

Share

The Metis team supported nine of our Lead Local Flood Authority clients to submit applications for the “Grant for Boosting Action in Surface Water – Updated local surface water modelling and mapping information in key areas” in October 2019 and February 2020 (part of the national Surface Water Management Action Plan). The grant applications covered 14 high risk urban locations in London and the South West of England.

The submissions were successful in 11 locations covering more than 12,000ha of modelling to update the national Risk of Flooding from Surface Water Map. All grant applications scored highly with feedback from the reviewers including “you provided excellent responses to the majority of evaluation questions” and “Comprehensive costing breakdown provided, well linked to work and outcomes through a good narrative. Good value for money shown.”

The first six locations (awarded in November 2019) were delivered on time and on budget by the 31 March 2020 milestone. The following five locations were commissioned in March and are on track to be delivered by the first milestone in October. Following the COVID-19 restrictions introduced in March, the team has quickly adapted to remote working and all the projects are progressing on programme.

We have now and are delivering c.40% of the £2million national flood modelling fund for our clients!
