Regular CPD sessions continuing at Metis
Within recent weeks, members of the Metis team have attended and delivered several internal and external CPD sessions.
Held on the 6th May, one such external session led by CIRIA discussed the design and operation of culverts, screens and drainage outfalls as critical to effective flood risk management and successful drainage to avoid unintended consequences, such as flooding and environmental damage. An internal session delivered by Darragh revolved around the completion of an asset register project for the London Borough of Hillingdon. The online map and user guide provided helped to illustrate the assets which were included, asset significance and how this was defined within the context of Hillingdon.
In the pipeline are another couple of CPD sessions, including one outlining our proposal of the use of rubber modified asphalt as part of a capital renewal scheme for TfL, with the view to making its use standard practice for future highway resurfacing schemes on the TLRN. Another is scheduled for the 10th June, which will detail our design for Walsall’s Brownhills Civic Square, envisioning place-making opportunities for this empty green patch adjacent to the high street and suggesting how the space will connect the surrounding neighbourhoods and the canal.
