Making Sustainable Choices

At Metis, we’re proud to be B Corp certified, a testament to our dedication to making a positive impact on the planet and society. Our journey towards sustainability doesn’t stop at our services; it extends to every aspect of our business, including our networking practices.

The Environmental Impact of Traditional Business Cards

Deforestation contributes to 10% of all global warming emissions. Every year, millions of trees are felled to produce traditional paper business cards. In the UK alone, over 27 million business cards are printed daily, with 88% of them ending up in the bin within a week. Moreover, paper manufacturing is one of the most resource-intensive and polluting processes, leading to harmful emissions into the environment and water bodies. It takes 85 gallons of water to produce 2 pounds of paper, and 25% of paper waste ends up in landfills, where it decomposes and releases methane, a greenhouse gas 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Metis’ Sustainable Solution: Planting Trees with Every Card

When recently needing new business cards, and in our search for eco-friendly options, we discovered Mobilo, a company offering a unique initiative. Their unique initiative consists of planting a tree for every business card purchased through them. They have pledged to plant a tree via a trusted third-party organisation, a non-profit focused on global reforestation called One Tree Planted. Without hesitation, we made the decision to proceed with Mobilo, resulting in over 70 trees planted on behalf of Metis.

 The Sustainability of Wood Cards

It might seem a bit ironic that our business cards are made of wood, but it just happens to be the most sustainable source for this purpose. It’s recyclable, biodegradable, generates the least amount of waste and pollutants in comparison to paper and plastic cards. One tree produces 10,000 wood cards!

 Innovative Digital Networking

Moreover, what makes these cards even more innovative is that they are digital. You only need to purchase one card, and how it works is that you tap your card, and your contact information is saved on the other person’s mobile device. This not only saves paper but also streamlines the networking process, making it more efficient and eco-friendlier.

 A Commitment to Sustainability

By choosing eco-friendly business cards and embracing digital networking solutions, we’re not only reducing our environmental footprint but also promoting a more sustainable way of doing business. Together, let’s continue to make a positive impact, one card at a time. To learn more about One Tree Planted initiate, watch the video below.
